I love interesting dishes for lunch too, especially lighter main meal salads full of flavours and textures.

Muse – Kingston – good lunch specials that include a glass of wine

ONA, on the Lawns – Manuka

The Palette Cafe* – Deakin – interesting and beautifully presented dishes

Penny University – Kingston – interesting dishes

Vincent – Barton –  the 2 course $30 Wed-Fri lunch menu is quick and has wonderful flavours (small serves)

Space Kitchen  – Woden – the prettiest dishes in Canberra

Cream – City

 

Weekends

Akiba  – City – Great Yum Cha  11:30-3pm

Monster Kitchen – New Acton, Hotel Hotel – great, any weather

Pialligo Estate Pavillions –  Pialligo – gorgeous setting

Poacher’s Pantry – on the way to Murrumbatemen – worth the drive

Cork Street Cafe  – Gundaroo – also worth the drive

Pod Food* – Pialligo – fixed 2 or 3 course lunch

Courgette – best service in Canberra

The Boathouse Restaurant* – Lake Burley Griffin

Pialligo Estate Farmhouse Restaurant – Pialligo – now with A la Carte menu

Monster Kitchen – New Acton

 

Mid Range with BYO

Binny’s Kathitto* – Braddon – South Indian

Kinn Thai  –  City – Thai – go for Kinn’s favourites

Kusina* – Philippino – the beef cheek and pork dishes are amazing

Chong Co, Kingston Foreshore – Thai – well sized delicious curries and stir-fries, best in good weather to sit outside.

 

Cheap and Cheerful

($15 per person or less + BYO)

Claypot Chef – Farrer – Sri Lankan, good weather only

Brodburgers – Kingston Foreshore – love the baby brods, perfectly sized, especially the salmon with blue cheese.

Pizza Gusto – Braddon

Pho Phu Quoc – Dickson – Vietnamese -don’t miss the ‘birdsnests’

Mandalay Bus – Braddon – good weather only
