So Grand at the Oberoi Kolkata!
Spread the love

The Oberoi Grand Kolkata is THE Place to Stay

When I start to plan a trip I always look for a great place to stay. Somewhere well located with heritage, personality, and comfort. However, it also needs to be good value. The Oberoi Grand Kolkata really delivers on all measures and more!

The central location is perfect. Just step outside the door and you’re in the thick of the action. Step inside and you have an oasis and respite from the bustle. New Market and Park Street are just a few blocks away for shopping, browsing and dining.

Sightseeing is walkable and Ballygunge and Elgin are just a short Uber or yellow Ambassador taxi ride away for restaurants like Oh! Calcutta and 6 Ballygunge Place and for lovely textiles from Byloom.

But it’s the team who really make a stay at the Oberoi Grand fantastic!

Spoiling us completely….

Looking after us in the good times….

….and the not so good chicken soup days (thank you Sabrina!!).

Take the Grand Tour with Head Concierge Mr Sarkar and you’ll appreciate the history, granduer and opulence of the hotel.

If you can, do meet Head Chef Sauvar, an excellent communicator who is passionate about sharing his love of Bengali Food. To hear him unpack a Bengali meal, over chai and snacks is indeed a highlight of a stay at the Oberoi Grand.

And breakfast is wonderful!

While the prices at the Oberoi Grand Kolkata are at the higher end of my usual range (about $AUS 240 per room per day), it’s totally worth it!

A stay at the Oberoi Grand is the very best way to guarantee a wonderful Calcutta experience.
