Visiting the King Valley & Rutherglen Wine Regions
Spread the love

Beyond the Cellar Door

Taste of Two Regions 2018

When Taste of Two Regions brings Rutherglen and King Valley winemakers to Canberra each year, it’s a great day out, a time to learn meet passionate people and explore new wines.

A  Sensory Workshop

A Family Affair

An Italian Romance

Winter Pinics

But more than that, it’s also the time to plan a whole weekend enjoying these alluring King Valley or Rutherglen regions that are just a few hours from Canberra.

Wineries are Offering Cooking, Food and Accommodation

A visit to the cellar door used to be all about wine tasting and buying bottles. These days people buy their wine on-line or from the large retailers and we need to stay fit to drive.

So wineries have become a hub for great food and wine experiences and have scoped out great accomodation options on site or nearby for under $200 a night (often with room for several couples and breakfast as well).

King Valley

Brown Brothers Winery

Brown Brothers Winery in the King Valley offers two dining options and range of experiences and tours and packages that last from an hour to 3 days.

There’s Lindenwarrah across the road that looks lovely to stay at, or a whole range of other options.

Patricia’s Table restaurant on site looks wonderful with matched wines to each course.

Pizzini Wines

Pizzini Wines is a must do for your King Valley itinerary too. Katrina Pizzini runs Italian Cooking Classes and there’s a choice between Pizzini Vineyard accomodation and the lovely looking Mountain View Hotel in Whitfield that also has a restaurant.

Politini Wines

Politini Wines is another King Valley Winery offering an Italian experience with cooking classes and lovely, well priced accommodation.

Rutherglen

However, nearby Rutherglen is another wine adventure region offering geat food, wine and accommodation.

All Saints Estate

All Saints Estate is a favourite spot of mine, set in gorgeous grounds. It too has an excellent Terrace Restaurant and offers good value accommodation nearby at CastleView Cottage.

Pedal to Produce

You may even like to cycle your way around the wineries.

I’ve only just scratched the surface of what a wine weekend in the King Valley or Rutherglen regions might look like.

Pick your region.

Pick your dining, wine-matching and wine-making experiences.

Map your route and pick your accommodation.

Book your visit and enjoy!
